In a bold and unprecedented move, the Yemeni Armed Forces have declared a retaliatory strike against the US aircraft carrier USS Harry Truman and its accompanying warships in the northern Red Sea. The operation, which involved a sophisticated combination of 18 ballistic and cruise missiles alongside drone attacks, marks a significant escalation in the ongoing tensions between Yemen and the United States.

The coordinated assault, executed by Yemen’s missile, air, and naval forces, was described by military spokesman Yahya Saree as a direct response to 47 US airstrikes that targeted multiple Yemeni governorates overnight, including Sanaa, Saada, Al Bayda, and Marib. The US raids reportedly resulted in dozens of casualties, with Yemeni officials condemning the attacks as "massacres" against civilian populations.

Saree issued a stark warning, declaring that all US warships operating in the Red and Arabian Seas would remain legitimate targets as long as US aggression persists. He also reiterated Yemen’s commitment to maintaining a naval blockade on Israeli vessels, vowing that the restrictions would not be lifted until humanitarian aid is allowed to flow unimpeded into Gaza.

The strike on the USS Harry Truman, one of the US Navy’s most formidable assets, underscores Yemen’s growing military capabilities and its willingness to confront global powers in defense of its sovereignty and regional allies. The attack also raises questions about the broader implications for maritime security in one of the world’s most strategically vital waterways.

As tensions continue to mount, the international community watches closely, with concerns over the potential for further escalation in a region already fraught with conflict. The Yemeni Armed Forces’ latest operation signals a defiant stance against what they describe as foreign intervention and aggression, setting the stage for a protracted and volatile confrontation.
