Apple is poised to launch one of the most ambitious software revamps in its history, set to transform the user experience across its flagship devices.
According to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, this extensive redesign is slated for release later this year, promising to redefine the visual and functional aspects of Apple's operating systems.
The overhaul will introduce a refreshed design language, updating icons, menus, apps, windows, and system buttons.
Drawing inspiration from the Vision Pro's software, the new interface aims to create a more cohesive look across Apple's various platforms while simplifying navigation and control.
This transformation comes at a crucial time for Apple, as the company seeks to reinvigorate consumer interest following a period of slower revenue growth.
The iPhone, Apple's primary revenue driver, experienced an unexpected sales decline during the last holiday season, highlighting the need for innovation.
The updates will be rolled out as part of iOS 19 and iPadOS 19 (code-named "Luck") and macOS 16 (dubbed "Cheer"), representing Apple's most significant redesign.
While aiming for a more uniform look across its operating systems, Apple will maintain separate systems for each device type, believing this approach leads to better products and encourages users to own multiple Apple devices.
The company is expected to unveil these sweeping changes at its Worldwide Developers Conference in June, setting the stage for a new era in Apple's software design.
